ABOUT ME
Growing Leaves Daycare is an In-Home Daycare in the heart of Portage, MI. I offer an intimate classroom catered to meet the individual needs of 1-6 children. The children I care for range from 2 months old to Pre-Kindergarten (4-5 years). My goal is to create a safe and fun learning environment to prepare your child for Kindergarten.

COMMUNICATION

I believe an informed parent is a happy parent. I keep parents as up-to-date as possible throughout the day with the use of the Brightwheel app. Parents are able to view photos, videos, meals, potty breaks, and lesson plans as they are posted. Communication is made easy with direct in app messaging.
GROWTH
Fostering Young Minds
Experience Curriculum is a research based program that I am proud to offer. I focus on activities that will help expand Early Math Skills, Language, Social Emotional Development, Physical Development, as well as Cognitive Development.
I believe children learn best when they are happy, well fed, and comfortable. My lesson plans are packed with music, arts and crafts, dramatic play, story time, and outdoor physical activity.

Having a true and honest connection with each child is the most important value at Growing Leaves Daycare. I want to meet each child where they are at and encourage growth from there. Establishing bonds with children takes time and consistency. Getting down to their level to clearly understand the needs of each child is crucial for building strong relationships. I want your child to light up the moment they step through my front door. A home away from home.
MY PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
My name is Kim Mitchell. I am a Childcare Professional with 8+ years of experience. I have my degree in Business from Western Michigan University. I found my love for childcare during the pandemic when I switched career choices out of necessity. Working at a nationally accredited daycare along side my children, my calling solidified. Children are fun! Watching them learn new skills that you introduce is so gratifying! Eventually, I decided to open my own In-home daycare; Growing Leaves Daycare. My goal is to care for each child with the same thought and love that a parent would. As a parent, I know the value in open communication, educational growth, and authentic connection. Oh yeah, and having fun, lots of fun!
